From Survival to Soul Currency: A Conversation with India Osborne

May 7, 2025 | Studio A3R Podcast

Welcome to Studio A3R, where we explore the people and ideas shaping our inner lives and our world. As we navigate accelerating change, the one constant that guides us is connection—to ourselves, our communities, and the greater whole. In this space, I hope you find clarity, purpose, and deeper meaning.

In this episode, I had the honor of speaking with India Osborne—transformational life coach, visionary storyteller, and holistic event curator. India’s presence is magnetic. I met her through Hatch founder Yarrow Kraner, and from the moment we connected at the Hatch 20 reunion in Bend, Oregon, I was drawn to her depth and grace. She has the rare ability to hold space in a way that invites healing.

India’s journey spans iconic films like Life of Pi, Avatar, and Watchmen, where she worked in visual effects. But her real magic isn’t in the visual world—it’s in the soulful one. Today, India curates sacred retreats, mentors visionaries, and guides people through profound personal metamorphosis. She is also the host of The Slow Drip Podcast, where she shares the subtle shifts that awaken our truth.

Story as Sacred Invitation

India’s life has been stitched together by one continuous thread: a deep yearning for unity. Whether crafting fantastical worlds for the screen or guiding people home to themselves, her mission remains the same—revealing our shared humanity and helping us reconnect.

“What doesn’t exist can be made possible,” she says. In the world of visual effects, she learned to be a “world builder.” That same skill now serves her work in transformation. In both art and life, imagination becomes a form of truth. Through her lens, imagination is not escapism—it’s a soul currency.

The Ripple Pathway: From Survival to Transcendence

India’s most powerful offering is what she calls The Ripple Pathway—a five-stage behavioral model rooted in her own journey through crisis and rebirth. This pathway emerged during the early days of COVID, when she found herself stranded in Australia, navigating the collapse of a marriage and the shattering of her identity.

Stripped of all familiar markers—job, country, family, and even name—India went inward. What emerged wasn’t just a new sense of self, but a new map for navigating life’s most vulnerable transformations.

Here are the five stages of the Ripple Pathway:

  1. Acknowledgment
India began with the act of naming—naming the pain, the patterns, and the blessings. She honored the survival strategies that had carried her, even as she released the need to keep surviving. This was the portal to presence.
  2. Distillation
In this stage, she challenged old narratives—not with judgment, but with gentle inquiry. She reframed suffering as preparation, understanding that her past had equipped her for her future. “Let me not criticize, but interrogate without emotion,” she says.
  3. Courage
Courage, for India, isn’t loud. It’s the quiet flame of inner truth. It’s the permission to evolve, to say, “This is who I am now.” It’s choosing to step forward even when you don’t know what’s ahead.
  4. Renewal
One of the most poignant stories India shared was about losing her hair after a botched salon appointment—what she jokingly calls her “hair trauma.” But that loss revealed something deeper. “I got to see what I really looked like. I had never seen me before.” That, she says, was her rebirth.
  5. Self-Transcendence
India now lives in a space beyond boundaries—not because she avoids them, but because she has learned to see others with compassion rather than fear. “Boundaries often imply judgment. Self-transcendence is compassion without attachment.”

Throughout each ripple, her invitation is clear: transformation is not something we chase. It’s something we become.

Redefining Safety

Many people approaching transformation cling to safety. But India redefines it. “Safety isn’t hiding,” she says. “Safety is knowing you can trust yourself.” She describes a vision she had during a pivotal moment in her life: standing nude, with long hair grown from years in isolation. A door opened. Light poured in. She had a choice: stay in the familiar or step into the unknown. At first, she said no. Then she couldn’t sleep—because she knew she had just shut the door on her own life.

“I took the key back,” she said. “I chose to trust myself.”

Her advice to anyone on the edge of transformation is simple and profound: “You will never fall. Your soul always knows. And if you listen closely, it will lead you.”

Ancient Wisdom Meets Modern Coaching

India’s coaching practice is a living, breathing integration of ancient wisdom and modern insight. She draws from Hermetic principles, like the law of correspondence—“as within, so without”—and applies them to everyday questions about life, death, identity, and belonging.

“Coaching isn’t about fixing,” she says. “It’s about remembering. Remembering our wholeness, our interconnectedness, our joy.”

Words matter deeply to India. She sees them not just as vehicles of communication, but as vessels of energy. Even simple words like life or death carry weight and personal meaning. Her goal? To help each person define these concepts for themselves—to uncover their soul’s own language.

What Is Soul Currency?

“Soul currency,” India explains, “is the richness of who we are.” It’s the frequency we emit when we live aligned with our truth. It’s how we spend our energy, and how we invest in others—not in transactions, but in presence.

When two people meet in that space, something eternal happens. The frequency carries.

A Gentle Invitation to Transformation

To close our conversation, I asked India if she had a practice for those standing at the threshold of change. She offered this:

“Meet yourself in the mirror. Every morning. Not to critique—but to see. Let your face soften, your stories dissolve. Listen to the quiet voice of your soul self. Tell her what you’re afraid of. Let her remind you of what you’ve forgotten. This is not vanity. This is sacred witnessing.”

India’s journey is not linear. It’s circular, organic, and alive. Listening to her is like walking through a garden she’s carefully tended—each word a seed, each story a bloom. What she cultivates is not only wisdom, but wholeness.
